HOKA
HOKA's EU sizes come in thirds (40, 40 2/3, 41 1/3) and its chart is built on foot length: HOKA says to measure each foot and round up or down to the closest size within 2 mm. Wide sizes have their own chart on the same sizing page.
Brooks
Brooks recommends ordering its running shoes a half to one size larger than your dress shoe. Its women's chart has no US 6.5 row (it goes from 6 to 7), and its men's chart steps in whole sizes above 13. Brooks publishes no foot-length column.
Skechers
Skechers' chart puts a US women's 8 at EU 38 and UK 5, two EU sizes below HOKA's 40 for the same US size. It states that its Wide Fit equals a women's W or D and a men's 2E/3E, and that performance running and walking shoe sizes may vary.
Dansko (clogs)
Dansko sizes in whole EU sizes only, and its size chart gives each EU size a pair of US sizes, a half and the whole above it: women's 8.5 and 9 are both EU 39, men's 7.5 and 8 are both EU 41. That is the half-size ambiguity: there is no EU 38.5 to fall back on. Dansko's own fit check for closed-back clogs settles it: fit may be slightly snug stepping in, your toes should not touch the front, and your heel should move up and down freely as you walk. Its FAQ adds a pinky's width of space between your heel and the back lining, and offers free exchanges on full-priced footwear bought from Dansko for anyone between sizes. Most styles are made in medium width, with narrow and wide in some.
Crocs (clogs)
Crocs sells whole sizes, labels them as a women's and men's pair two apart (W9 / M7), and gives each an EU range such as 39-40. Its size chart says to round up if you are between sizes and to order your normal size for wide feet; its size help page says Crocs does not carry wide sizes.
